“Floated blocks” is a test fixture design technique that is used when the device under test has components that do not have a precise relationship to the PCBA being tested. This is frequently the case with surface mount connectors. This test fixture provides floated RF connectors and a floated block of fine-pitch connector probes. When the test fixture closes onto the UUT, the floated blocks use physical features of the connector to move the block into alignment with the connector. Then, the test fixture’s probes are precisely aligned with the connector they are probing.
